On average a single CD-ROM will store approximately 30,000 documents which is approximately 15 large archive boxes of paperwork.

On average a single DVD will store approximately 100,000 documents which is approximately 50 large archive boxes of paperwork.

USB sticks range from 500mb to 16 GB and will approximately 400,000 documents which is approximately 200 large archive boxes of paperwork.

Passport size hard drive
These hard drives may only be the size of a passport but they can store a large amount of paperwork. They come in 250 GB and 500 GB options and can store approximately six million documents which is approximately 3000 large archive boxes of paperwork.
